Greatness

Greatness

A Poem by Erudite
"

The title is only to attract attention. Seems most of the work of my pen goes without review.

"
Id like to smoke meth
And feel my heart beat out my chest.
Or, like my good friend Charles says,
Rocket out my shoes.
Take a roller coaster to a dimension,
In which there are no blues.

Like a cup of coffee times eleven,
A drop of lsd can give you new shoulders to stand on.
HAH! As if it's an inhibitory crutch.
What grand expanses it opened up.

And the Religious look on me with condemnation,
While they ignore the destitute in dire straits.

While the devil's armies've fluttered about me,
They've lied in wait.
All in due time a great will come.
As the prophecies've fortold,
We'll see the sun.

But I've been on the cusp of death,
For years or more.
And a concerned glance has been
Rarely and painfully bestowed
Upon my empire of dirt.

If i haven't endured the flame,
Then the flame is a mirage.
If I've not partook my share of iniquity,
All that's left is my demise.

And so, if I've not ascended,
Then I may never.
What else could I do?
Decipher the language of the undead?
That's behind me.

Lay me to rest near Newton and Whitman.
Perhaps in the next life I'll enjoy decent conversation.
