Reflections

A Poem by Jeannette Gaspard
"

Just a bit of whimsy.

"
The sky has fallen to the earth
and lays right there between those trees.
Clouds are skidding sprightly by
lightly rippled by the breeze.
Trees have twins that stretch away,
twining limbs like holding hands
and dropping leaves that float across
this brightly shining mirror land.

I wonder if the same small town
lies in wait beyond that rise
with people walking upside down
and living mirrored lives.
I want to take a little nap
beneath that willow but I bet
if I should try to reach it
I will only end up getting wet.

And so, instead I'll skim a stone
across the dazzling mirror top
and watch it dance across the clouds
and sink into them with a plop.

Author's Note

Jeannette Gaspard
Most of my poetry tends to be light and whimsical. I only seem able to write poetry when I'm in an up mood. If I'm angry or sad it all comes out in song and introspection comes out in free verse or prose. I'm sure I'll end up posting plenty of the other stuff too, but today I'm happy. So whimsy it is. Hope you all enjoy.

I like this. Whimsical it may be but sometimes it is nice to have light-hearted 'easy-listening' poetry so to speak. There are certainly enough deep dark poets out there. Nice to be able to make somewhile smile with a poem. Keep writing when you're happy - it becomes you.
