'Awake and Unbound'

A poem about those of us whose minds drift into other worlds while most are in there sleeping state. They are the artists, musicians, poets, thinkers, inventors, entrepreneurs, etc.

Awake and Unbound

I sometimes find around midnight

a tired mind can take a flight to such great heights.

To lands beyond this Earthly realm,

escaping others to find one’s Self.

A journey inward must commence

when the world sleeps in peaceful silence.

Most thoughts are bound when they’re awake,

but the trick to make is to equate your waking life to a dream state.

With thoughts unbound and worlds to explore

to not dream big would be untoward!

Imagination is the key

on this introspective journey exploring the brain’s intricacies!

While those asleep hopefully dream

of things and such they have not yet seen,

we are left awake, imagining!

Imagining of times since passed

of those we’ve loved and the times we had.

And to think! All these lovely imagined worlds

just pop in thought inside the skull!

And that, my friend, is beautiful.
