The School

The School

A Poem by Myrna H. Rickard
"

The teacher recites.

"

THE SCHOOL

.

This is the school

Which coaches and teaches,

With classes and lectures

And long talks and speeches.

.

This is the room

Where events are announced

And Math and History

And English pronounced.

.

This is the desk

Where lessons are learned;

Where study and practice

And A-pluses are earned.

.

These are the books

All tattered and torn,

Used and reread,

And ragged and worn.

.

This is the student

Who uses the books,

Who endures all the lessons,

And teachers looks _

.

Upon the desk

Where lessons are learned

Inside the room.

Where A- pluses are earned

Within the school

Where the coach makes speeches

And the teacher lectures,

Instructs and teaches.
