Conquered

Conquered

A Poem by Mysty Rayn

This pain drives into my chest.

It pins me to the wall.

Falling to my knees I cry.

Crying out, “Dear God”.

Finally lost in my own emotions.

They have consumed me.

I’m drowning and too tired to swim.

The tears soak my shirt.

My eyes streaked black.

Paralyzed by the thought of failure.

The Demons I have fought.

Evil I pushed away.

It’s came back stronger.

I have no more fight left.

On the floor I lay.

In a puddle of defeat.

“Dear God, take me.”

Screaming till I can’t speak.

I have been conquered.

Boy, I have been there a few times in my life. This is truly a deep down in the pit kinda poem that grabs your heart and yanks it. I think if you've been there then it definately hits home, like knocking your funny bone. Muck!

Stand up and Fight back!

Our fears and regrets become our biggest demons.... a very raw piece that shows how paralyzing those demons can be... we must conquer them with faith in ourselves and the love in our hearts.

This has that certain unteachable quality that the Spanish call "duende". It's that undefinable gift of not only conveying emotion in art or literature but actually giving the reader the physical sensation of it. It's very wrenching to read, but oh so effective.
