Pushing Back

Pushing Back

A Poem by Mysty Rayn

She had seen so many doctors.

Had so much false hope.

Hopes they would find what was wrong.

As tests were done, she refused the answers.

Too afraid of what she might find out.

After a gentle push of a friend,

She managed the strength to listen.

They told her the unthinkable.

Soon she would be defeated.

Defeated by something larger then her.

With a heavy heart, she pushed back.

Managing to push away all who loved her.

Deserting all those she loved.

Hoping they would hate her.

Hate her too much to morn her.

She wanted to die alone.

It was the last unselfish act.

The last one she had left.

As someone who has to get shots every month so that I don't die I can relate to certain aspects of this poem. Without my injections I'm this woman. Of course in time they may not work so we'll see what my reaction to that would be. I would hope that I could have my friends around me as much as possible and enjoy my last days sharing smiles and happy memories, but unfortunately that isn't always how it is. All of us have to make our own journey in the end. :)

So very sad but it really happens, some can't deal with their illness and feel the best way is to curl up in a corner alone and not burden those they care about... excellent expression of emotions in this piece.

This is so sad. If it were me, I would have wanted all my loved
ones around me, cherishing the time I have left. This is a touching
poem. AD
