Rose Bush

Rose Bush

A Poem by Rama
"

A single rose bush reminded me of the poem The Solitary Reaper by William Wordsworth which I had read n my school days!

"

Rose Bush

Behold it single in the field,

Yon solitary rose bush without shield,

Swinging and spreading it’s beautiful scent,

Attracting everyone, be it lady or gent.

The humming bees go round and round,

Sucking the nectar making a typical sound,

The colourful petals add to the beauty,

Makes me wonder, oh what a cutie!

As I approach to touch it with hand,

The thorn pricks making me step behind,

Lo I forgot the saying of old!

All that glitters is always not gold!!

Looks never are fully truthful,

Whether they are dirty or beautiful,

Pause and then take your step ahead,

So that you can ever keep up your head!

I know the poem the Solitary Reaper very well. One I have known for years. You have indeed given Wordsworth a nod with your own delightful poem about the rose bush. Some lovely lines here, I very much enjoyed the read Rama. Thank you.
