UU Poem

UU Poem

A Poem by Kiwi
"

Another parody to Meredith Brook's song "B***h." Probably funnier to fellow Unitarian Universalists, especially those that go to congregations like mine.

"

Wrote this again for the song parody contest my friend sent me the information to.  It had started out as a song about a stereotyped Dark, Brooding, Evil Witch but turned into a song about a UU being quite a step from normal.  Someone who defies predetermined roles and who doesn't fit any creed--who's interested in everything and whose beliefs are not limited or expected to remain stagnant.

I curse the world each day;
Can be cruel to me,
I know I’m not deranged.
Tried to tell you
But you looked at me like maybe
I'm a Christian under creed:
Innocent and sweet.
Yesterday I sighed;
Must have been relieved to see
The human side.
I can recognize that you would be unused
And utterly confused:
I'm a little into everything
Found under the sun.

I'm a witch, under cover.
I'm a child, love my mother.
I'm a sinner, studied saints:
I have not been well trained.
I'm in hell, changed your dream;
With knowledge in between.
You know you wouldn’t want me any other way.

So take me as I am.
It may seem
That you’d be more pleased if you ran.
Rest assured that
When I start to drive you crazy
And I’m debating each thing,
Tomorrow I will change
And today’s a song to sing.

I'm a witch, under cover.
I'm a child, love my mother.
I'm a sinner, studied saints:
I have not been well trained.
I'm in hell, changed your dream;
With knowledge in between.
You know you wouldn’t want me any other way.

Just when you think, you have me all pinned out
My belief’s already changing.
As a rule, you do what you do
And don't try to save me.

I'm a witch, under cover.
I'm a child, love my mother.
I'm a sinner, studied saints:
I have not been well trained.
I'm in hell, changed your dream;
With knowledge in between.
You know you wouldn’t want me any other way.

I'm a witch, if I please.
I'm a goddess who loves trees.
When you hurt, as you suffer
I'm your Buddha and your lover.
I've been dumb, I'm ascribed;
Can’t say when I’ll arrive:
You know I wouldn't want it any other way.
