In The Dungeon

In The Dungeon

A Poem by NamgyelR
"

What happens when darkness overcomes

"

No light can enter and no light escapes,

Powers that be of the black hole,

My freedom that it stole,

Covered by the long lonely dark drapes

No light can enter and no light escapes,

Confined within the walls of doom,

On the altar stands the deserted bride-groom,

Your thoughts dictate how the world shapes

No light can enter and no light escapes,

Alone in deep thoughtful misery,

Oh, how life can be so slippery,

There is no sign of light when morning breaks

No light can enter and no light escapes,

Consumed by self-inflicted poisonous venoms of hate,

I seem to have lost my mind of late,

I desperately want my memories erased

No light can enter and no light escapes,

Sucked into this delusional vortex,

I need to pay my inner war debts,

Swinging like a pendulum between mental states

No light can enter and no light escapes,

Floating endlessly into dark space,

I fall into the laps of utter disgrace,

Do no fall victim to what the dark solitude dictates

A miserable place and desperate situation poetically presented, Namgyel. Your words paint a vivid image of the darkest space, almost suffocating, as if the walls are closing in and the drapes are strangling and stealing life's breath.

Pain, despair and frustration are among the strongest emotions I get from this poem. Then, there's a trace of light (hope) in the last line--the human spirit saying "Don't give up. Don't quit. Keep looking for the light." Another good work that I enjoyed reading and absorbing.
