To the strong woman... My mother

This poem is dedicated to my loving mother

Radiant she was as the world
Watched in admiration
"She's too beautiful, she has no problems"
To them , FREE was her affirmation

Or so they thought

Those eyes
Heavily weighted by strong currents
Of barren tears that crash in giant waves
Against her lower lids
But never flooded once

Her cheeks resemble pink florals
So attractive
Yet they were painted by heartache
Crushed by pressure from a suffering smile
Happiness inactive

She licked her plump ruby lips
Swallowing the planet sized lump
A daily task that added more weight
To her heaving and tired heart

She looks so stunning in that little black dress
Strutting proud as if her shoulders were
Carrying light weight planets
Freely orbiting comfortably around her

Truth is
They are extremely heavy
She has a world that groveled and gyrated
Piercing every pressure points on her body

Her heart, so big and brave
Carried everyone's massive planets too
Put them into orbit amongst her own and
Graciously hoola hooped that burden
Like an elite performer

They left her in daunting darkness
They took the stars with them

Left her to be dancing alone
To the silence that's deafening
Even for a chaotically loud mind
It's insatiable... That loneliness

Those pretty heavy eyes started to shine
As the flood gates cracked and crashed it all
Rosy cheeks wetter than ever before

Her throat constricted as if rung up by chains
Fought all the air that came through it
Her heart demanded to leave
Claiming freedom beyond what this life can offer it

No vocals are loud enough to express the agony
Of the beautiful woman
Even when her world has fallen
Other people's planets are still in orbit
comfortably around her
