Remember me then

A poem about remembering your first love, and how you'll always look back to those days and wonder, if they do they do the same.

I would take you with me,

To show the world,

And its secrets,

But all I'd be doing,

Is holding on to the past,

I never could,

Get rid of all my skeletons,

And now all they do

Is gather dust,

Adding weight, to the silence

And as I sit here,

At the break of the shore,

I am reminded,

Of when the sun,

Reflected off your smile,

And the stars they dazzled,

Behind your emerald eyes,

Making me feel as though,

Life flowed through them,

And from them, to me;

I would take you with me,

But the world moves like the wind,

And I feel her whispers,

Wrapping around me,

Shedding me of my worries,

All that we are,

That we were,

Is another skeleton,

In my closet,

But it's time that I make my leave,

And the open road,

Is no place for hollow bones,

But I'll leave a piece of this,

Of me and my heart,

And the memories we shared,

I'll leave it all for you,

In a place where only you can go,

And someday somewhere,

I'll remember you,

And maybe then,

You'll remember me too.
