Because I Love Thee Thou Shalt Die

Because I Love Thee Thou Shalt Die

A Poem by Nao Deguchi

You want to give to immortality

I can fathom it, you inch towards it

But you will never arrive

Hung with gems, lonely as ever

Scarcely visible in a net of dreams

I rob your girl saffron veils

And I steal your manly confidence

Pointing out your gender laden

Tendencies, like the bad milk

In the fridge, the garbage

You forgot to throw out

I can fathom it, I see it every day

Your death-affronting forehead of glad eyes

Pretending with all your heart to be happy

Dividing your achievments

Between your spoils of home vs. away

You fashion your hours’ fine use

Between, utility and charm

You want to give away your mortality

Too young, you rather muse

Too fail, thou art, you steal a drink

At midnight, at the first sign

Of your toes getting too cold.

Firstly fetid is rancid rank smelly.

This piece has great depth and I adore how you steal from both the female and male forms stripping them of gender.

The final stanza seems so honest only make mine a hot chocolate as I don't drink.

Keep em' coming.

I will go to great lengths to encourage writers of Asian origin. Of these, Indian are my favorite. They have a beauty of sentiment that is not replicated in english. I do not like to leave a trace.. more..
