Hibernation Dream

Hibernation Dream

A Poem by Nath

Previous Version
This is a previous version of Hibernation Dream.

There's no single trace of life
All of it seems to have died
The world seems dead, or dormant
As the scenery lies there in silence,
Everything surrounded by a silver shine.
*****
The world is wrapped in white
By snowflakes slowly dancing
Downwards to the ground
To build soft snow covers
Which cushion every sound
That might disturb the sleep of life.
*****
Created by theses celestial crystals
Are miracles at which we marvel,
A whole winterly white wonderworld,
Whose whiteness's very wonderful.
*****
These are wonders, a pulchritude,
That the wondrous winterly world
Decides to simply sleep away,
All of those white winter days,
Rather burying itself beneath
Ice and snow that serve as sheets.
*****
So the world is missing out on
All its white winter wonders
Due to the annual hibernation
It apparently rather ponders,
Rather lies like dead, asleep,
Oblivious to the snowy scenery,
And dreams of pure beauties
That are, perhaps, similar to these
Which the world, as it seems,
Will never get the chance to see
For it prefers to rest and sleep
Lost in its hibernation dream...
***

Dedicated to: Winter and its wondrous white wonders which I love.
First snow here today, which is why it is up 4 days before winter officially starts.

Brilliant alliteration! My favourite verse is actually the first one, they were all very good but that one verse stood out, so you had a great start. The last line is also very good, so you ended fantastically too!

"Snowflakes slowly swirling
And softly swiveling round and round," has so much beautiful alliteration. It's delicious. Just rolls off the tongue. I wonder what this was inspired by exactly. Insomnia usually does it for me. Lol. Or a cool word/song. Anyways, thanks for another great read!

The imagery in this poem is breathtaking, I can almost see it infront of me...I love snow too and you have really captured it's beauty.
I like how you have brought hibernation into the poem because it is so true that people and animals of course tend to hibernate during these times and it is a shame because it is truly beautiful and so is your poem...
Great job!

i think this makes me think of christmas..definitely...but also it sounds like a fantasy dream wherein everywhere is white...and instead of white symbolising purity, perfection...its seems as if inyour poem..there is this tinge of imperfection ...or impurity tainting the perfect image your described! and strangely, it sounds so perfect...like it belong..it meant to be like that!

wondrous-writing! (*.*)

Clever, a gorgeous poem full of imagery and tickles the senses. I love that even though you say that winter causes every thing to be silent, still, "Rather lies like dead..." But then you speak of the beauty lost to the eyes of those in hibernation and then jump into the perspective of the hibernators... Whose dreams maybe even more beautiful than the scene that winter presents.
Great, love it!
