Homage to the Moon

Homage to the Moon

A Poem by Netokeli

Gentle face that rests upon the infinite sea
Lonesome and at times cold.

Radiating beauty through divine mystery,
Come kind guardian of old.

When you are not whole I will be your company.
Stretch out your hand and hold.

As I keep you warm from those cold winds that blow free
You more precious than gold.

But as leaves fall you must eventually leave me.
So, I look and behold

The Moon is a planetary object that has marveled poets for ages. I don't think there's anything that can't be ascribed by the feelings we have for this magnificent body in the sky. Your words remind me of song lyrics that depict the moon as a friend to speak to, to confide in. I like the way you use simple words to develop a clear, bright image that's easily relatable and connects well with whoever reads your work.
