I like to think that those single white feathers are a sign from our dearly departed, reminding us that they aren't that far away. It happens. It happens to me from time to time and it brings me comfort. Your poem Neville is very relatable as well as being beautiful. Those feathers make me pause and reflect on memories and that is special.
I still have the lump in my throat and tears in my eyes that this touching poem raised when I read it first time - - Little White Signs is a verse to remember. Bless you for sharing it Nev.
This is a beautiful tribute, Neville. At first reading I was thinking the dear one was a child that had moved from home, but then I felt it must be a soul passed on.
The way you’ve presented it, it’s as though life continues elsewhere in a more peaceful frame and those who’ve moved on are being showered by peace and love. Perhaps unaware of the shift. That’s a wonderful way of thinking about it.
I’m going to hold that idea/image in my head-heart for some time and imagine it as the truth. A lovely poem full of that painful/joyful mix of the human journey.

"Little white signs" convey more than an angel's hovering wings. They symbolize purity, tenderness and humility, not only of those who have past, but who we aspire to be. A touching poem, Neville, surely inspired from personal experience.
well my friend ... very touching and romantically sentimental .. i wonder why she is essentially missed?? is it always missed when not present?? or missed because she has passed over??
if white hairs were feathers from heaven ... they are raining down in buckets ... and all on my side of the bed :)))))))))
your poem is vulnerable and romantic Nev ... a very natural flow and rhyme ... real beautiful ... and i hope she appreciates it my friend!

Too kind sir but as always so very much appreciated .. thanking you Gene and true :))
At present I find a white feather on my pillow every morning. Happens this time of year when memories flood back in spite of trying to keep buzzy, having to keep buzzy. Somehow, however, that single quivering, wispy draught-blown feather reminds us of past smiles and - even more: reminds us to make more and more.. and more.
Your words are full of beautiful sadness, Neville.

it's a little white sign with gargantuan meaning....
the memory will live in the hearts forever...a presence felt strongly in past, present and future.
