Waiting for the Big E

Waiting for the Big E

A Poem by Neville

Waiting for the Big E

I would

surely not

But for a fallen leaf

Be sitting here today

Sheltered from

The tears I first mistook

For raindrops as they were

Flung and fell and flew my way

For it is said and writ in

Certain holy books at least

Tis in the greater scheme of things

That truth and love do matter most

While I for one, am but a single

Mustard seed or as a tiny grain of sand

On the very face of it, insignificant perhaps

Tho basking in the golden shadow of enlightenment

To feel the burden of simplicity’s necessity and how important it is to be the truth and love personified. These things are enough to bring me to tears some days.

I feel like enlightenment is something like understanding and having the strength and resolve to act on the understanding. This strength is much harder to come by than the understanding itself.

I love the meditative nature of this, Neville. A bit of a combination of eastern and western philosophy. Perhaps a reaching toward something universal which seems the most likely place for enlightenment to bloom. I really enjoyed this today. I needed this sense of developing understanding.

Wow, this was quite deep and mor philosophically laden that’s your usual fare. I love The introspection and self reflection. Two of the very reasons I write in the first place. this one is gold my friend, thanks so much for sharing.

thank you kindly and truly true Crowley.. a much appreciated and welcome visit :)
If you can bask in any golden glow at the moment with the chaos and unrest that surrounds us, you have certainly reached a good place to be. You transported me to the garden of Eden and I have to say I for one am pleased that Eve bit into that juicy apple after listening to the wicked serpent. Your poem has an intriguing shape, it is like half a pine tree. Truth and love are all that matter really. Money, when Miss Covid is on the doorstep means nothing. It will get you nowhere if your time is up. In the overall picture of things we are all just passing through. Yes, as tiny as the mustard seed which is easily lost to the wind. Here today, gone tomorrow and who knows what else there is afterwards. Quite a thought provoking write Neville.

Poetry, so subjective Neville. We all go on our own journey:)

The wait is experienced as anticipation and meanwhile we all have many learning curves to master - - basking in golden shadows is enough for me.......... another brilliant gem of a write my friend.

It is our capacity to be small that we grow and gain light. It's something I recall in transcendentalists' writings, maybe it was Emerson or Thoreau. It's more than humility and more lasting. This one might be too deep or abstract for me Neville.

I like basking in enlightenment...but technically, wouldn't you be creating the golden shadow rather than basking in it? Either way, I hope the glow keeps on growing and giving. Great writing. Cheers, F.
