Aperitif

A Poem by Neville

Aperitif

Although it’s such a long way down

and even after all this time……………

maybe

it’s not all that surprising………………

She still

tastes of sunlight rising ………………..

and just

as hot as peppermints and green tea

she remains

yet to be slowly sipped …………………

and correspondingly savoured ……........

The focus here is on sipping slowly and savouring the flavours. Delightfully done, but my mind wandered to Albert Finney in the film Tom Jones, going back to the 60's. He was doing the absolute opposite. If you want to introduce food to a scene, that is one never forgotten. Tasting of sunlight, peppermint and green tea, certainly refreshing and a pleasant change from sugary sweet.

You know when you open a packet of sweetner, and the fumes land on you taste buds all sugary sweet. That is what you have done you have layered images and given the morning sunrise a flavor. It is just wonderful, creative and sensual.

...................... and you have just made my day :)
"hot as peppermints and green tea" . . . this entire poem might be the sexiest thing I've read in a week or two. Love your imagery & the way everything is spaced out as if luxuriously lingering (((SLO))) Fondly, Margie

Whoa... you have a way with words that only a poet would dream of... “hot as peppermints and green tea”. A vision of propriety. truly, Pat

She sounds delicious you lucky git, about as delicious as a Belgian hot choc with whipped cream, marshmallows and... Uhm, what was I talking about again? Just conjured an image that would give this a mature rating 😊
