Severity in Consciousness

Severity in Consciousness

A Poem by NicholeHemstock

It's the pain that burns within yourself,
When the light begins to die,
You can feel it deep inside you,
You can see it in your eyes.
The hope that's lost with discontent,
The lies above the truth,
The gritty feeling of emptiness,
The chill that's in the room.
The absence of life in your brain,
The grey that's in your vision,
Thoughts are hard to restrain,
Faith with no prevision.

And you're cornered,
By two sides of yourself.
The one that's self destructive,
And the one that's trying to help.
It tells you to just keep faith,
The other tells you to bleed.
One gives you what you want,
The other gives you what you need.

And you can't help or fill the void,
Created by nothing but white noise.
You don't know what's best for anything,
You just feel like dying.
