Let me be

Let me be

A Poem by Anika

They chased her through the dark night,
Their voices sounding like a war cry

She ran with all her might,
Until her mouth was parched and dry.

The horizon lay beyond the sea,
It's waves crashing o'er the shore.

With no place to flee,
She let her tears fill every pore.

Some said she was sick,
Others, crazy

But she was a candle with no wick.
A lone daisy.

They knew not her name,
Or the place from which she came.

But for now she keeps running,
To a place unknown.

i like this, i like that it isnt trying too hard, i hate when you can tell someone resorted to a thesaurus. you didnt. It also tells me "she" might actually know where she's running, she's running where she wants. DO THAT. good job.

Thank you!
Excellent work Anika, I will say that the poem sounds a bit old fashioned with its consistent ab ab rhyme and archaic language. A piece of advice, use the words you use, your voice is the most unique and beautiful thing you have.

4th line
"Until her was parched dry"
I think you forgot a word in there.
Also just a suggestion so the line will flow better,
what about changing "over" to "o'er"
Just a suggestion though
