The Days of the Rainbow(father and daughter)

The Days of the Rainbow(father and daughter)

A Poem by Nico
"

the realization of a father that his little girl has grown up and that he must let go.

"

Those were the days of the rainbow
When the winter ended, the good weather came back
And you, with the moon and the stars in your eyes
Felt a hand touching your skin,

And while you went crazy for the scent of the flowers
The night was lit with a thousand colours.

You were lying, little girl, but you got up as a woman

You're stronger and safer, the adventure started
Now they're little girls, old friends
Who meet in a group to play
And still dream on a moon beam.

You live your life as an important woman
Because when you were sixteen, you already had a lover
And one day, you'll know that every woman is mature
At the right time and with the right measure.

And in your runaway you'll find love
You'll leave the past behind for better times,

Those were the days of the rainbow
Pictures of that chocolate covered mouth
Forever remain in my mind
Goodbye my little treasure
It's time to have your own rainbow.

"You'll leave the past behind for better times," good words for a growing/gorwn child.
"Pictures of that chocolate covered mouth
Forever remain in my mind"...they stay "little" to us, don't they?
this is a wonderful tribute to a child...lovely imagery and a nice even flow.

What a sweet piece. I think you did a wonderful job putting hard to express realizations into words.

There is nothing sweeter than a bond between a father and daughter. Its a nice poem. Good word usage and good flow. I like it a lot. If only men could actually say this out loud!!

What an interesting topic. They all grow up so quickly these days. In the blink of an eye, they are running off to get married to somebody you hardly know. Great job capturing the essence of losing your baby girl to the world.

That is the way most dad's feel about their girls..Not wanting to really accept that they are grown and not their little girl anymore..I had a wonderful dad..God didn't make many like him..A rock to his 5 daughters..this makes me miss him more..God bless..Valentine

There's nothing more endearing then that bond between father & daughter, as daddy's little girl, I also felt the heartstrings being pulled as I read your poem. :) thank you for sharing it was lovely.
