Is It Me, Or Anybody Else?A Poem by Nicole LaDonne
In the mirror, I gaze and see,
A face that stares right back at me. But in those eyes, a question dwells, Is it me, or anybody else? The thoughts that weave inside my mind, Are they unique, or just aligned With countless others, lost in thought, In webs of wonder, mystery wrought? The dreams I chase when night's embrace Wraps me in its quiet grace, Do they belong to me alone, Or echo in another's tone? When laughter rings, when tears do fall, Is it my heart that feels it all? Or do these strings, when lightly pressed, Play tunes that fill another's chest? In crowded streets or silent rooms, In morning light or evening glooms, The world spins on, a carousel, Is it me, or anybody else? Perhaps we're threads in life's grand weave, Each one distinct, yet interleave. And in that blend, both you and me, Find answers in this mystery. © 2024 Nicole LaDonne |
