Uncommon

Uncommon

A Poem by Casey Ishmael

Hand in hand they walked
Chattering blissfully, smiles cheek to cheek
Hands intertwined, neither thinking of the time.

Rain fell softly, music played quietly.
Tapping her fingers to the steering wheel she hummed
Mind wandering as the road went on.

He looked at her smiling, squeezing the hand
If only time could stand still, he thought
Her laugh rang out, breaking into his thoughts.

The song was playing softly, the tune just right
Eyes off the road she turned the knob,
Ten is a good number, she thought.

The sidewalk is slippery, but they walk,
Unmoved
