A Loud SilenceA Poem by NintendOA poem about the tragedy of 9/11A man passes
by. He wears a
suit, looks at his watch, and fixes his tie. He lifts up
his head, what he sees is a giant. Next to it
is a mirror, a twin, a reflection " extremely defiant. Its scales
are a playground for the glistening sun For now, it
seems as if they’re having fun. In his
office, so white, the man picks up a pen. It is just
another, plain day once again. He writes
down the date, nine eleven, and " one. One second
it took, the man is now gone. And this man
has dispersed in the records of time. What has
been done? What happened? A hostile crime. A metallic
bird has crashed into a tower, On that
gorgeous autumn day, with compelling power. And the flaming
red lions swallowed the building walls, It is only
moments before its twin falls. A rich
velvet cloak covered the morning sky That the sun
cannot penetrate with its shining eye. The cry
brings the gods of New York to their knees. The sound
that slices the smoke with ease. The terror
of people still under their desks And the
shape of the tower, all shattered, grotesque. A tsunami of
clouds that silenced the streets, Covering the
cement with gray, soft sheets. While
American heroes believe they won’t lose, The fear
breeds in the river of sadness and endless news. The public
is shaken in unbearable freight, By power
more overwhelming than Caesar’s might. And after
all the destruction, what’s in store? A utopian
peace or another war? A man once passed by... © 2014 NintendO |
