Granted one wish

Granted one wish

A Poem by Annique le Roux
"

An attempt to describe my feelings for one person

"
granted one wish, I tremble
to think of the power at my command,
at the thought of seemingly unattainable
desires now within arms-reach,
but my mind,
strangely,
does not linger on the idea of
wealth, power, success
unbidden
a rather different concept
comes to the fore

how does one attempt
to capture the essence of
an indescribable feeling?
what measure of language
or numerical value could be used
to record such an idea?
the answer does not present itself
for you see, I am unaccomplished
in this task
I fail to describe the value
that you add to my life
it is as elusive as the
ecstasy of light to
a fluttering moth at a candle.
speechless I turn instead
to the feelings you evoke
within my heart, but
happiness, peace, pure love
seem mediocre descriptions
of such intense emotions.
I wonder how it is
that my beloved words,
my true medium of expression
has completely failed me
in my attempt to show
one person how much
my heart holds for them.
perhaps this attempt is enough
or perhaps they will never quite understand
because maybe I don't either

granted one wish, I tremble,
thinking of the power at my command.
my mind focuses clearly
on one thing alone

I wish only for you
to see yourself
as I do

i GUESS THIS IS WHEN WE HOLD SOMEBODY
IN HIGH ESTEEM.
BUT THEY MAY NOT KNOW IT.
