I Miss You

I Miss You

A Poem by Annique le Roux

I brace myself for
the oncoming wave -
crest after crest of
emotion-laden
memories that
threaten to overwhelm
and pull me
into their deceivingly
warm embrace
thoughts that hold
pockets of happiness
inexplicable understandings
of fate destiny
or meaning-to-be
I ready my mind
too for the tears that
accompany such sweet
love-imbued ponderings
which fall like droplets of
salty pain upon
my sob-racked frame for
such joyous happenings
are better left
forgotten as
they have no place in
these new circumstances
that speak of the
loss of a companion
friend and dearly
beloved man who
has left my life faster
than he entered it
and has left an
uncovered
uncoverable hole
in his wake such
that my tears fall
too often these days
and my smile too
fades fast
love is not easily
forgotten this I
have learnt for
though my chance to
show this one
person how much
my heart holds
for him is now as
lost as I am
the depth of the
feeling does not
diminish with a
few words that
bring such swift
endings
no these will
endure longer than
I care to imagine
they will remain
to tease and
remind me harshly
of what once was
and they will
remain to show
me what my heart
was able to
accomplish in this
time this brief
time of pure
heaven-sent bliss
in time I may lift
my head and heart
to face these
memories without
fear or pain or
the ache of
loss
for now however
I lift my head
and open my eyes
to a world of
remembered joy
where troubles were
numbered and smiles
were not
for now I must endure
this longer-passed place
and remain hopeful that
one day my eyes will
open again to a real world
of happiness
because right now
my heart aches and
the hole is exposed
now, I miss you

This is a truly deep emotion-packed poem.
I like how the lack of punctuations gives it a progressive
flow which show disordered emotions
which help convey that the fact of missing a loved one
is an overwhelming experience with emotions all over the place.

It also has a kinetic energy to it,
as it reaches towards the final stanza,
done in a progressive, suspenseful manner.

THIS IS A REALLY GOOD POEM
