So I had this idea one night, and I honestly think of it more as some rough idea of a song. And songs are poetry in their own way. So here's what I made.

You were hurting 

We didn’t know what to do 

We tried what we knew

But I guess that’s just not how things work

We’d give you a place 

you could call home

We’d make sure you felt loved 

when you were in doubt

You’ve been in pain for so long 

We were at a loss of how to make it stop

But you found a way 

I’m sorry we weren’t faster

We’d take you both 

away from that place  

Somehow, someway 

We’d keep you safe
