Conniving Heart

Conniving Heart

A Poem by NoirSpartan
"

How real is the bond between two individuals.

"

When confronted by an individual,

One who possesses the features desirable.

Which has the peripherals in a haze,

Has your focus, held in a gaze.

If that be feeling be mutual,

Are you sure they are in fact suitable?

At the time both filled with passion,

With your heart an accessory of a fashion.

Though if it be torn off the sleeve,

Once more you shall leave.

What felt right in your heart,

They’ll see you as a tart.

Love at first sight;

Could there be such a delight?

Present not the same passion,

Though now you will fashion.

Through sight brings lust,

Which isn’t enough to make it just.

Uncover the veil;

And you find the parts which is most real.

Will you adore the interior,

Or is there nothing but the exterior?

When all that you rely;

Is primarily in the eye.

Placed before you may not really be,

The eye shows us what we really want to see.

I especially like the last line, for me it wraps the whole piece into itself; that we see what we want to see.
