Socialite Awareness

Socialite Awareness

A Poem by Noteworthy

Clink the flute
Of opportunity
Seize the kiss
Enlightened
Finish the glass
Till the final drop
Trickles down
Your thirsty soul

Gauge the level
Of what remains
The bottle uncertain
In your hands
Tip what's left
Into the wind
Accepting the dregs
Like holy water

Drunk on seconds
Embrace the tick
Of the tocking
Music of desperation
The naked silence
Laid thick between
Predictable movements
Modest in its trappings

Head hung low
Tilting to the right
Self deprecating
Yet listening intently
Hearing the lyrics
Woven in the river
Of random dissonance
Uncomfortable refrain

Desperation tests the tone
A low hum pervades
Tentative in its surety
Felt most purely
A rumble in the belly
Caress the throat
Until beauty evokes
Absentmindedly
