Gemma

Gemma

A Poem by Nothing Personal
"

Oliver answers back to Gemma , a song we will never hear.

"
"Oliver
You kicked a hole through my heart
And left me with the whistling sound
As the wind blows through
With duct tape
And an open bag, I covered it up
And put back on my sweater
So I look the same
But I'm a little different now

I might look the same
I might look the same
But I'm a little different now
Now

Oliver
You ripped the smile off my face
And fed it to the winter birds
Why wicked boy

Oliver
You are my blackness, Oliver
You are my lightness
My defestator "

- Gemma ( Gemma Hayes)

Gemma,
I thought you were wiser
I thought you would see through my heart
And ask me to stay.

Gemma,
I could not see you stop
Because of me,
Because of my stupid love
Whose worth i never tared.

Look where you are now,
Ain't i your lightness now,
What would you say dear?

Of silent screams and frozen summers,
Of locked cabins and dried pears,
Of cigarettes and petty old lines,
Poor old memories and a few tears
Here and there..

You are not the same ,
Your hairs have gone messier
Your eyes deeper, but sullen
You look beautiful, just so
I know you are the still the same.
I know you are still the same now...

Oliver

Author's Note

Nothing Personal
Its probably a prerequisite to listen to Gemma's ( Gemma Hayes) Oliver before reading this one. If you do, you'll know why. The poem apparently was born in her eyes.

Great!!! You put together both the perspectives...Pretty much often we hear just one...And yeah!!the song is definitely a prerequisite to read the poem...And a great muse too...I must say...:P

I love how you have shown both sides. Don't we always tend to only see our own side in heartache? You saw from his eyes to yours - which actually revealed a very strong, if sad, you! Beautiful!

Very interesting. I love the phrase "As the wind blows through; With duct tape; And an open bag". Very unique.

It reads as a song, a song of heartbreak.

Wow. This work is incredible once again. You just send me the correct read requests and just show both sides of the same coin. You just give me so much more to read, than just rhymes or poetry. It was real good work.

At first it was a bit confusing, but none the less this showed heartache from two different points of view. Good job!

I like this poem. I like the feel and the description in the words. It moved like music. I like the repetition and the very good ending. A outstanding poem.
