We've survived being alive

We've survived being alive

A Poem by Noxsie

Warm wind
This fun childhood quickly fades
To twilight streets in a sepia tone
Whilst my one-time-home, washed in dawn rain
Stands alone.

Victories and breakdowns blend
To blinding, blurring scenes
Of bittersweetness
Swept apart,
Far into the ocean of my past.

Tokens of those
Who I've loved and been
Seem heavy in my palm now
They pump fast, new
Dying dreams into my heart.

One day, someone will hold this page
Think that it's a shame I'm gone
Throw it away
Or keep it as a souvenir
Until their counted hours are done.

The book that I bought today
And disappeared in,
Noon til night, rots
The heart that mine's run off to play with
Laughed with, cried for,
Been amazed for.

It's You.
After a lifetime of collecting
All your great truths and beliefs
While I have tried to sell you mine
You finally fade behind
The sands of time.

All the lovers who've held your hands
All the tired,
Working all their lives to understand- lost
And all those who remembered
All those who remembered you- gone
One day, I will be gone.

Big deal
If the wine is going to spill
Let it spill on my pillow
If your heart is going to break
Let it break
In my bed.

If the world is going to end
Let's end up hand in hand
We've survived being alive
Nothing else could be any big deal.

Day by day
We're wrapped up in our new
evolving systems. Inside
We're still trying primates
Outside a hard earth waits
To take us back.
