Why are you still here?

Why are you still here?

A Poem by Shayne Harnden
"

Interesting question

"

Why are you still here?

I thought I finally got rid of you

Passing you out the end of my childhood life

Why are you still here?

Screaming so loud I shatter

the windows I once looked through

I have moved on with my life

Why are you still here?

I have a wife and child.

A life away from my pain.

But at every turn I see you

Why are you still here?

I have done everything to forget you

Showing no signs of pain

Surely nobody thinks anything happened to me

Why are you still here?

But the scars remain

the fear is locked behind my eyes

I wanted to dance with that train

The blood never truly dries

tears never wash away

I know I will never lose you

The child I use to be

You are here to remind me

That is the only reason

as to

Why are you still here?

This is very intense. You know no matter how we try to forget the past it seems to creep up on us sometimes. I find myself thinking back to issues and people that once left a mark in my life, some good and some bad. But those are the things that have made us into the person that we are today, a better person.

A very strong and direct poem. Sometime old memories and people try to sneak back into a life. I like how you requested their departure. "Why are you still here?" A outstanding poem. Thank you.
