A goodbye

A goodbye

A Poem by Odette Ntambara
"

I was touched my Celine Dion's love with her now late husband, and after his death I just felt moved to write this.

"

Our story began many years before either of us knew of its existence

Today this story has reached its end in its bodily sense

You stayed with me when my body was failing

You comforted me when I was feeling weak

You kept me smiling in the days that my spirit was challenged

You saw all that was my pain and assured me of my healing

My Love! I say goodbye today only in this physical world

Remember…

Our love will never die, nor will it wither

My body has reached its limit on this earth but my heart will always be yours

If you need me look into the eyes of the children we nurtured and I will be there

Our story has come to a pause as my body fails to hold me further

The fragile thread that held my being all these years has reached it breaking point

Lying in your arms through the night made my journey all the more peaceful

Feeling your touch kept me hoping

Seeing our children grow in your care kept me stronger

Don’t think of me as a loss, for that pain that consumed my body has vanished

My love today I must say goodbye, only because a new world awaits my presence

Remember…

To hold on to the laughter we shared

To hold on to that voice that inspires

Hold on and don’t let go of that smile

You may not see me, but think of me and you will find me

As we enter in the next chapter of our story I ask that you hold on to our memories

For tomorrow we will meet once again

I loved you then, I love you now and love is what will always be

Goodbye my love
