Flakey Facade

Flakey Facade

A Poem by Ohhhwillow
"

4/12/12 How do we know who others truly are, if they are falsifying themselves, their thoughts or feelings? We wear a mask for each of the people we meet, sometimes there is no expressing ourselves"

"
Fallacy is our reality
Page after ashen page,
Yet the rolls of our tongues
And stains of our bleeding pens promote a picture,
That becomes a fixture of the so called truth.

A glorified scripture,
A shameful lie,
An ebony tear without alibi for others in masks can slip down
Like vagrant ice from above.

The stars themselves may have kissed my cheeks,
I know for sure they are tender
But alas not as my front nor snowflakes do they melt.
They remain,
Watching moments immortally.
Bright binds of brass minds that nowhere else connect.

My creaking door presents once more a mother,
Father,
Stranger,
Lover,
A zombie to the world.
To themselves,
From forced self-portraits on their walls
Where lips are upturned as mine,
By a flakey facade.

Is it still a fake face if we wear it forever?

The poem was great but the just pulled something in me out! Maybe it's time to place my mask down at times. And it's not to hide myself, it to hide my feelings.

You did a wonderful job on this. Don't sell your self short. Bravo

You deserve it.
Interesting topic, one that definitely deserves a lot of thought, even looking at oneself ... I think everyone wants to see themselves in a certain way. But hopefully we can still see ourselves clearly enough to know how far that is from the truth. It is amplified in settings like this where we dont know what the person we communicate with looks like, much less be able to look in their eyes or hear the honesty on their voice. As for wearing a fake face forever... How sad if you cannot reconcile with what is truly in your heart.
Anyways lovely poem but I wasn't sure what you were trying in the second stanza ... For me, cryptic there.
