Temple

Temple

A Poem by Okunlola Omolola
"

Sexual Abuse

"
"If your body is a temple, then you shouldn’t mind me worshipping"
your fingers s t r e t c h m y f a c e into
the shadow of a smile. tonight,
body spread across your altar, i am
the temple & the sacrifice. you
drag a lighter over my
skin, shooting bullets into my home.
your w(o)(a)rship has me
dangling at the edge of a cliff,
slamming against the rocks.
you're only singing praises to yourself,
impaling hymns rolling off your tongue.
you cannot find God here,
you will only find the ruins
of a desecrated city.
