It Wears Her Out

It Wears Her Out

A Poem by Olivia C. H.
"

If I could be who you wanted, if I could be who you wanted... All the time.

"
She sits silent at the edge of decision and desire.
She loves and hates with her whole soul.
She loved you with her whole soul.
She gave you her everything.

She did.

You knew that.
She's gone too far.
Too far from feeling.
Too far from reality to see.

To see you.

This time she cut herself too deep.
Cut herself to make the pain go away.
Cut herself to cut the pain.
To cut out her soul.

To cut.

You found her youthful and innocent.
You left her black and hollow.
You touched her so deep she thought she could love you.
You cut her so deep, she thought she'd better get to herself first.

You left.

You told her you would always be there for her.
You told her she was beautiful.
You told her she was intelligent.
You told her you loved her.

You did.

Now she's scared to feel.
She can't feel anything.
She has a disconnect.
She is the shadow of what she once was.

She is.

She can't feel anything.
She can't feel anything.
She can't feel anything.
It wears her out.

It wears me out.
