Equal

Equal

A Poem by Omikron

Trusting in the knowledge, that
Every lengthy midnight chat
Hits equally as deep below
For every human, friend, and foe.

The virgin rays of sunlight
Cutting the dark winter nights
Surely feels as good on every skin
Black or white, warm or cold as tin.

The thick silence only pierced
By howling winds, ever fierce
Or birds chirping and greeting spring
Everyone must love such a thing.

We bid on wars in distance
Destroy all that existed
We forget our tears taste the same
We love, we cry, the joy and shame.

There are no enemies here
Just humans driven by fear
But would we look in the mirror

We'd see our mother
Our father
Our teacher
Our brother
Our preacher
Our savior

And our killer.
