Misfortune

Misfortune

A Poem by Dream Weaver
"

Believe it or not this is about Alzheimer’s ...

"

I close my eyes to misfortune, memories

lost to the past, reflecting on this life I’ve

lead, how much longer will it last.

When times were good they were better

then I thought, but when they were bad it

was refuge that I sought.

My mind was clear my energy productive,

when it came to love I was so seductive.

Times have changed as I watched with fear,

I lose my train of thought with each

passing year.

Aging faster at the speed of light, no

slowing down this endless plight. I lived for

love but soon I’ll forget, everyone’s name

if I haven’t yet.

A master of writing my words now are

blank, impeded and stifled no longer swank.

I woke up this morning while getting out

of bed, not a single thought passed through

my vacant head...

Very sad, yet beautiful. I hope you don't have alzheimer's Joe. Please tell me you don't. Loved your poem!

but then again
the person with alzheimers is not the one that remembers to suffer
only those surrounding them because they remember what their loved one used to be

now that you updated it that it is about alzheimers...i see it totally different
the first time around i thought it was blissful ignorance...

Great song...and I know the feelings you're describing...I have had the 'vacant head' too many times.

good flow.

i love your image creations
this is very insightful
how we elude ourselves to play on seduction
when our youthful bits allure others
not really playing on love
just a superficial shell
sending us on a mental rush to always be physically excited
this is very wise....and ironic when you wrote
not a single thought passed through your vacant head
because the silence is now allowing you to process something peaceful
