.
.
.
She took his bed, you understand?
.
He didn’t court her,
There was no charade,
No feigned matrimony,
No partnership-dance.
.
She tore into his sheets
Like they were strips
Of elephant meat
And all she had, were teeth.
.
She burst upon his bedframe
Like a shell of white phosphorous,
Burning into its varnished shape
A heart, and her initials.
.
She ripped up all the wallpaper,
Made feathers from the pillows,
Obliterated the plaster
As a pestle to a mortar.
.
She wanted his bed, so she took it.
And he loved her all the more
For that.
.
She wanted him. So she took him.
And he loved her, more,
.
For that.
.
.
.
