The inversion, gender reorientation

That is but a reflection of yourself …

The missing parts of you, 

The parts you already have;

It that you want most to see 

Mirrored by the eyes of the other.

But there’s more,

River to the sea:

That is a longing for something greater,

For unity, to be of collectivized use -

For utility, for the partnership to serve 

A higher purpose - something that is larger, still, 

Than just the soul-sum 

Of its sole, two parts …

Family.

.

Family is what generally occupies that space.

I wonder if that need for the sea

Is what might’ve upset the flow -

Conflated the course

Of all those rivers 

.

Of before.

.

I wonder, exactly, what it is you carry

That played such a prevalent part

In forming such a disappointing

Pattern.

I wonder if you'll ever learn

To put such disappointments to bed.
