.
It's funny,
For such a useless craft -
Such an impractical past-time -
You'd think
.
There wouldn't be such egotism, in poetry.
.
But everywhere I've looked
Puddles becomes ponds,
Ponds become ladders and
It doesn't really take much time
.
For fish
To start bickering over rungs.
.
.
Criticism betrays arrogance,
Arrogance betrays ego
And the ego -
Swollen and ripe -
.
Betrays a life-time of insecurity.
.
And sometimes
I think
It takes
Someone
.
Other than a poet
To see the irony
.
In poetry.
.
.
.
