The Little Drummer Boy

The Little Drummer Boy

A Poem by Orahemae December

It's sad to say that once again,

I've began to love this boy.

It's been three years since the bug first bit,

My heart seemed like a toy.

I finally found a friend,
We shared something together,
We both liked the little drummer,
We seemed lighter than as feather.

We became real close,
Tighter than air,
When all of a sudden,
Life didn't seem fair.

She liked him for two years,
 I liked him for three,
She began to tease and taunt,
Because he chose her not me.

I'm glad to say that today is a day,
My love for him gets dimmer and dimmer,
But unfortunately I still love him,
I still love the little drummer.

When I saw the title I thought this was about MY little drummer boy. Then I read this and realized... OH! -- XOXO Megg

Brilliant poem!

Your rhythm is sketchy, but the rhyme scheme is good. I'm not quite certain why you chose a title so associated with Christmas for this poem. It seems like the focus of the poem is not the drummer boy the speaker fell in love with, but rather the changing relationship with her friend. Perhaps the title would have served the poem better if it reflected that?

But, of course, this is purely my opinion! I advise you to take it worth a grain of salt!

Fantastic job!
