A Poem by Gavin Haley
"

It takes time to get better

"
How long will you continue to walk in my shoes,
To realize just what the he'll I've been through.

I witnessed my father beat my mom out of sheer anger and simply say if you would just shut your mouth you wouldn't deserve any of this.

i sat and watched my mother drink into a belligerent stuppor and become self righteous.
And after all of this neither of them could stick beside me.

When I watched my own parents not care about about the thoughts that threatened my own life.

Oh mother
Time and and time again you've weathered the storms.
But i swear I'm just like my father.
The man i know youd hate to see me be.
How can this be that in his absence I can still feel his disease trying to claw it's way out me.

But if your absence has taught me anything it's that family is never as close as it seemed.

It's okay I'm alright.
I've got plenty of time to contemplate what to do with my life.
