Light bringer's light

Light bringer's light

A Poem by Oyewale Akintunde
"

A poem about faith.

"
How many times have I run to thy father?
How many times did the devil beat me to it?
What more to understand? What more have I gathered?
A bet on my head might lead to sudden defeat

From whence does this darkness hail?
Pretence; the light bringer might prevail
Illusions in motion, the ship has set sail
Caught between the tides of my own tale

Once more, the nefarious one strikes away
Angels exist, but I bask in my lonesome
Idle thy mind, and the devil shall play
Gifted a curse, and they say it will be wholesome

I am not Job
But a man is inclined that he must have hope
A job bestowed on those that can cope
I spoke to my will, so it doesn't elope.
