The Inadequacy

The Inadequacy

A Poem by Jonhoi Vaughn

Words were not spoken

Not in the gasps and the moist squelch of lips

Word is the tamed pet

escaping only in sweat

and the onomatopoeia of

sip-sucking

the drizzle of sweet waters

and the teasing crawl of honey on skin...

and it is not enough

Words are not...

Love is not...

Life... is not enough

Love is not enough to spark light on the leakings of my heart

from a glass bulb attached to arteries in a ceiling...

Love is that form of inadequacy

that does not compensate for gastric excess...

unless...

Love can fill the virgin passage of hunger

to the very brim...

Pollenating the womb to be fat with blessings

and maybe pregnant with regret..

thus...

words are aborted...

For there is not enough in words

to Love enough in Life

which is not in itself,

Enough to Live

words are never enough, but still, we muddle on . . . stacking them together in groups and spurts, still trying

you know I love this
