Xmas's not Christmas

Xmas's not Christmas

A Poem by jaybeth
"

When holiday proves to be no fun

"
Holidays are not funtimes when there's war,
Not of guns nor bombs but in the soul.
Vacation doesn't put to rest the years rust,
Not even a whole day in a five star spa.

Birthday aren't great when age is a bore,
Not only to the celebrant, but to those in toll.
Cake's not sweet when Peace lies on street,
Not even when all folks roar in the bar.

Xmas's not Christmas when there's sore,
Not of the skin but in the heart's very hole.
Chickens don't seem right when emotions pest,
Not like fleas but as when the lights go afar

I guess this brings home the old concept that happiness is within the heart, and all you have to do to be happy is to think you are happy. And this somehow is a slight prick, if not a blow, to the constant, kind of thoughtless association of holidays with happiness and cheer. I specially liked that bit about birthdays. I loved it all. Keep writing! Cheers!
