A Letter of Peace

A Letter of Peace

A Poem by Philip S.

A poem based on 2 Timothy 3:1-4.

Dear You (Me),

Prepare for the times hard to bear.
Will you center yourself - around self?
Will you wonder your worth - your wealth?
Does the audience need to hear
your living poem?
After all -
Is it not an arrogant call
A squaking tome?

Why do you scoff your patrons?
Abuse them with disdane...
Still, raised by your elders pain...
Are you now your personal matron?
What happened to please and thank you?
Is all that you hold
in your hands cold?
Does your brother miss these words, "I love you"?

Where is your mercy?
You spit in his face!
Dealt death to his embrace!
You slander with hearsay!
You have disciplined discipline
Casting out all life's good
Dawning Hate's fateful hood!
Your friends name you Betrayal's denizen!

Did you forget careful care?
You boasting, prideful lion!
Are you deemed a royal scion?
Why do you pleasure in all you dare?

I beg of you; Remember these:

From all of this you are free!
Seek - and you will find me!
Let Conquered Death roar!
Then let your heart - joyfully - soar:

On wings of hope, grace, and fervent peace!

With concerned and forever faithful love,
Your Worthy Sacrifice,
Your Holy Speaker,
Your Advocate,

Jesus Christ

Author's Note

Philip S.
I used a loose meter (mostly because I struggled to focus on scheme). I am sure revision will come! A work in progress I would say; as I am, most definitely, as well..
