At last

At last

A Poem by PadfootBlack

Honestly...
it's a sigh of relief
a great weight
lifted from my back.
I don't love you anymore
not you, exactly
the memories of you
maybe
but not you
you are a shadow
of the beautiful soul
that you used to be
I miss her
I love her
I was happy with her
but not you.
Where did your compassion go?
Your kindness? Love used to light up your eyes.
Maybe someday
you'll find them again
but as for today
I don't and can't love you
At last
at last
at last
I'm free from you.

beautiful and bittersweet. I like the first line "Honestly..." - it really sets the mood for the poem and makes the whole thing more personal.
