What a difference a year can make

What a difference a year can make

A Poem by PadfootBlack

Today is my birthday
and exactly one year ago
(I remember it well)
You took my lips in yours
and my heart in your hands
and you told me that
you loved me
for the very first time.
I still remember the elation-
feeling as if I could fly
while you kissed me like
I was the breath in your lungs.
Now I glance over at you across the room
with memories of us
sharpied on my heart.
Underneath the table, you're holding his hand
and it aches.
