Jack

Jack

A Poem by Paige

I’m sorry I got attached
I’m sorry I feel in love
I’m sorry I got crazy
Loved to feel your love
Cause I know
This love comes once in a lifetime
To feel like you’re all mine
Butterflies down deep inside
Cause I know
This love was never mine
Too far away, you’re never in sight
So I’ll go
Close up and off I’ll never show
I’m broken I’m all alone

I feel it every year
When the summer breeze blows through your golden hair
Oh, jack
Remember when we looked up at the stars
Remember When we touched each other’s hearts
Oh, please
Do you remember me?
The sea, just like my eyes
The sand, just like my skin
Oh, jack, please
Why’d you have to go away?
And leave my heart up on the rocks
Where I think I died
That summer night
When you looked away and my eyes fell
Is this how it feels, not to feel?

Now, it’s been 2 years
And oh, jack
I still see you in my dreams
To my heart, I think you still have the key
So I’m asking, Please
Could you hand me the key
So I can lock the door
To those summer nights
Maybe meet another guy
But I still see your big brown eyes
If you can close the door, why can’t I?

I've been reading your stuff, and I can really relate. Sometimes I think it's such a curse to be "oversensitive" and "giving". It makes it easier to fall for someone and to fall hard. Thank God for poetry - at least that's an outlet and a kind of therapy.
