Pretty World

Pretty World

A Poem by Pamela Haddad

Grey hearts across the street lay
pointing forward to the way
black ones stranded over there
arranged alone not by pairs

Broken arteries knitted veins
blood is dripping as color wanes
shattered organs greet your eyes
a part of darkness swims in lies

Knotted arms point direction
leaving hideous reflection
filthy carcass holds the key
a pretty world don't you see

A rotten body judging another
while floating out of its smother
leading the way into the void
leaving behind all the destroyed
